Blair Bowker

My life has been defined by two passions: exploring rivers through kayaking, and understanding how our mind and hearts experience and make sense of the world.

My passion for kayaking and thirst for adventure has taken me around the world. I have represented NZ at the kayaking rodeo world championships, run multi day adventures in Nepal, flown into remote rivers on the west coast on NZ by helicopter, as well as running first descents of extreme rivers. Extreme kayaking requires navigation of incredibly high risk environments where one mistake can prove deadly. This has taught me to operate in intense environments where keeping calm was the difference between life and death. I bring this expertise to the trainings I deliver to help people cope with challenging environments.

I have dedicated 30 years to exploring what makes us, us, and how to find balance, harmony and peace in our lives. This journey of discovery has taken me around the world to countries such as India, Sri Lanka, UK, USA and Nepal. During this time I explored many paths of study including  mindfulness, yoga, western psychology, and philosophy which inspired me to become a psychotherapist.

Over the last fifteen years I have been delivering trainings and one-to-one work to thousands of people. My passion for learning has never abated and I stay informed of the most recent and well-evidenced neuroscience research, making my trainings based on best practice. Currently, I am studying Somatic Experiencing which is a body based trauma modality.
